A modern style with a yellow and gray color palette is the perfect combination for this chic Palm Springs wedding captured by Lovers of Love Photography. Designed by Artisan Events, Lindsay and Tom’s wedding is full of personal details, fabulous style, and TONS of love. Lindsay is here with us today sharing more about her inspiration and planning, and she has some awesome insight…
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
As our wedding day approached, we could never have gotten all the details into place without the help of Joey and Artisan Events. They created a truly ‘down to the minute’ timeline of the big day and made sure everyone stuck to it. The day ran seamlessly and stress-free because their team was always two steps ahead of what was happening.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
We really wanted everything throughout the wedding to feel like “us”. So it was important for us to choose vendors that we felt understood us and who we are as a couple; our personalities, sense of humor, style, and overall feeling we wanted the day to have. Major props to Artisan Events and to Lovers of Love photography who both did an amazing job capturing that. We could not have been happier with our choices!
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
As cheesy as this sounds, we kinda inspired each other and our own wedding details. Tom and I are both in the design business, but we hardly ever get a chance to work together creatively. So as soon as we got engaged, we were soo excited to start designing and planning together! (Maybe even more-so than the actual marriage part…hmm) Our minds were both spinning like crazy with ideas to really make this wedding our own. We ended up designing a ton of stuff ourselves including: the invitation suite, a wedding logo, wedding program, the wedding favor (custom playing cards, our favorite!), escort cards, and a custom family unity symbol.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
The highlight of the ceremony for us was our special family unity ceremony. Tom has two kids, so we wanted to do something that represented all four of us coming together as one family. (Something similar to a sand ceremony, but that really had our stamp on it.) Together we designed our own family unity symbol that consisted of the first letter of each of our names. It was custom made into a large three-dimensional sign so that each letter could be removed individually, like puzzle pieces. During the ceremony, we each placed our initial into the puzzle one at a time to represent the four of us coming together as a family. It worked out beautifully and there were definitely a few tears in the crowd (this may be an understatement). Even a few tears from our tough teenage kids – but don’t tell them we told you!
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Don’t do anything you don’t want to do and do everything that you do want to do! Don’t be afraid to take out traditional wedding elements if you dread them. And don’t be afraid to incorporate things that may be a little out of the box if it’s something you like. I can’t tell you how many people have told us that we had such a “Lin and Tom wedding” and that is truly the best compliment we could have received. We made sure that everything had a little touch of us, and that is the best advice I can give future brides. Have fun with the planning and add some personalized twists!
I absolutely LOVE Lindsay’s advice! It’s so perfect- incorporating yourselves into your wedding is something that every couple should try to do!
Lindsay and Tom incorporated themselves into several of their wedding details… did you see those favors- the set of custom playing cards?! Which of your wedding details are you planning on incorporating yourselves into?
